It’s our regions emergency

I’m asking for your support so that together we can make the changes necessary to protect our wildlife.

I’m here listening and providing input and answers.

Developers and small blocks.

I will take action to ensure that we have like with like infill development. There are tools available to the Council under the Planning Act to take immediate action. And it should.

This isn’t a matter of one individual a “Mayor” not allowing this to occur….this is about our system of planning in the Moreton Bay Region.

Plainly the planning in our region has been corrupted to favour overdevelopment for 12 years.

There has to be a balance.

Lifestyle the environment a sense of community and belonging. They all have to be part of our plans going forward.

28 March 2020 will be ground zero and day zero for our local environment.

We don’t even have the data or measures in place to determine just how much damage has been done.

We’ve got to act to ensure our own health and wellbeing and that of future generations.

The landscape across our region is under pressure from a growing population, urban densification
and climate change.

The result is a significant decline in vegetation.

This is the emergency in our region and this requires a strong response to protect existing trees and to enhance amenity and liveability.

Council needs a written Strategy document to guide practical delivery of measures that ensure sustainable planning, planting, management, resourcing and protection
of vegetation across this region.

It’s our planning scheme which sets the benchmarks for developing our region…..we need to truly seize that document back into the hands of the community and not the developers and their best mates.
