For 14 years I have stood alongside residents who have been fighting against Council on planning issues. A Council we elect and to whom we pay rates.
It is time for Council to fight for us. In fact, there should not be fighting at all – only implementation of good policy. Policy focused on our community, that balances growth with lifestyle.
Let us end the fighting against our own Council.
There is an opportunity for a new way forward. It is time to be positive about the future of Division 7.
I am excited about the growth yet to come in our division.
The vision I have for growth are about enhancing and protecting the lifestyles of residents, whilst welcoming tens of thousands yet to come. Share complete communities which are great places to live, work, visit and play.
Underpinning the future Strategic Direction of Council, I would lead with the following Foundations. Foundations – or guiding principles – which in action prove the approach of a responsible Council to all that it will do:
- We are Action: We will do what we say
- We are Inclusive: We are open to all
- We do Innovation: We are bold, new, and creative
- We are Sustainable: We acknowledge climate action is required by all levels of government
- We are Fair: We are balanced and equitable
As your elected Councillor, I will adopt a ‘positive change ‘collaborative approach to representing you and your family and our community. This should be the way forward.
As a resident of the Moreton Bay Region, it is my view there is much to condemn our Council for. This Council has committed an extensive list of wrong doings.
Some of that extensive list:
- Destruction of lifestyles by masses of townhouses being built on semi-rural blocks.
- Destruction of wildlife and habitats.
If I can identify a list of wrong doings, then I can identify ways in which I can serve our division to help correct these issues. To help create change and improvements.
I pledge, that if elected, I will work to restore a belief in Council that is positive on planning. To represent you on a Council that listens and responds to the people of the Moreton Bay Region.
My aspiration for the future of planning is that our division will have a planning system that is designed to provide for sustain liveability and prosperity. In the context of growth and change, planning that will deliver great outcomes and wonderful places across the entire Moreton Bay Region.
Some of that long list:
- Destruction caused on people’s lives by allowing blocks of townhouses built on semi-rural blocks.
- Destruction of wildlife and habitats.
- Over development is the tip of the iceberg. I hear stories of life-changing consequences.
If I can identify a list of wrong doings, then I can identify ways in which I can serve our Division to help correct these issues. To help create change and improvements.
I pledge, that if elected, I will work to restore a belief in Council that’s positive. To represent you on a Council that listens and responds to the people of the Moreton Bay Region.
I may not have all the answers right now, but I can put the Council into a position where it can deal with the challenges and make the most of the opportunities.
My aspiration for the future of planning is that our Division will have a planning scheme that is designed to sustain livability and prosperity. In the context of growth and change, planning that will deliver great outcomes and great places across the entire Moreton Bay Region.
I want our Division to be the best it can be. To lead the way on this priority and more.
If we can deliver a Councillor who serves Division 7 well, our Council can provide quality services without putting pressure on the cost of living. To enhance and protect our lifestyle. A Council that listens and consults, this just for starters.
This sounds like a Council we can all be proud of, and our Division 7 will be better off for it.
I will deliver for our community. I’m ready to serve as you Councillor to ensure that Council serves Division 7 and our entire region too.
